Default Which wheels...again

I am sorry to put this thread up again, eventually we will have every comparison possible.

I have narrowed down to AEV Pintlers(Argent) vs American Racing Mojave w/ Teflon for a Black unlimited rubi, 3 inch lift to be put on soon with 35 BFG KM2. Have never seen any in person, but I know a lot of you all have. And I am aware of the high cost for the pintlers, Im not too worried about that. Pros vs cons? Also, where do you all buy your wheels, I know Dave at Northridge sells the AEV? Thanks everyone.

The black mojaves are the best looking black rims on the market, period. You have my vote.

I've got the Pintlers (in Argent) and am very happy with them. They are hub-centric like the factory wheels and are beefy as can be. The guys at the tire shop commented on how stout they were compared to the alloys they usually see. Mine aren't very pretty any more as they've been used pretty hard in rocky areas. I'd buy them again. If I was going to go to a different wheel I'd go with the Hutchisons which give you a beadlock on both sides of the tire. The bead retention rings on the Pintlers seem more substantial than the norm and I haven't had any problems at 10 psi (the lowest I've gone on them).

BTW the Argent would look good on a black JK. I'd go with the darker gray on a white or silver JK. Mine is red and the Argent looks sharp. Black seems to be popular right now but my scrapes and scratches are barely visible as the bare metal and wheel color are so similar. They would be far more obvious on a black wheel. Yeah, I confess that one of the first things I look at on a Jeep is how scuffed up the tire sidewalls are and if the wheels show trail damage. That, some custom "pinstriping" and scraped bumper corners and skids and I know it's had some good wheelin'.

I got mine from David at Northridge. Get the thin-wall deep socket fom him too.

I am interested in this thread, as I am in the same basic boat.... black 4dr Rubi trying to decide what to do with rims... but I am gonna run a 4.5 inch Mopar Long Arm and 37 BFGKM2's

Let's see some pics!

If you search 37 inch tire club..... you will see a couple of Black Unlimiteds one has the silver pintlers and one has the argent. I am curious if anyone has the pintler that David sells that is not grooved at the end of the mag....?

I also want to see what a set of Rockstars look like on a Black 4dr.

I originally ordered the Mojave wheels thinking black is black. Much to my dismay that when they arrived...Teflon Black = Gunmetal.

They looked black in the dark but in the sun they look exactly like the teflon in most cooking pans. This may not be a big deal to you but since you have a black Jeep, they may look a bit weird if that's not what you meant to do. For others reading this post, any wheel that says 'matte' black is what most would consider a flat black color.

On a side note, all Axis brand wheels are called black teflon and come out the same way as the mojave teflon color.

Be very careful with the Teflon. I just spent the entire afternoon at a VERY reputable on line tire retailer, whos corporate office and warehouse happens to be near me, having ATX Artillarys (Teflon coated) put on my 08 Rubicon Unlimited. This retailer scratched and or chipped the Teflon coating on all 4 of the rims inside the lug holes during installation. That Teflon coating is not tough at all. IMO it would chip off at the slightest rock hit. Needless to say, I am still rolling on the stockers. Made them give me me hard earned money back!
