Default Wheels, Backspacing, And Wheel Spacers

Can somebody please set me straight on all this?

What is the backspacing on a stock JK Rubicon wheel?

Do I need a different backspacing if I want to run 35x12.5 tires?

Are wheel spacers just to run wheels with too much backspacing?

Thanks you for your help.

backspacing on stock rubi wheel is 6.25

yea you will need something with a little less backspacing to run a 12.5 tire or the "inside" of the tire will rub.

yes wheel spacers are to help run wheels that have too much backspacing.

to use the stock wheels and run a 12.5 tire you will need to get something like the 1.25" or 1.5" spacer to make the stock wheel "stick out" farther to give the clearance needed by the wider tire..

hope that helps

Stock BS is 6.25", yes you need less BS in order to run 12.50 wide tires and yes, wheel spacers will effectively reduce the amount of BS you have now.

Here's a thread that might help you out...

Thanks for clearing that up, guys.

I guess that since the 35x12.5 tires are 2" wider than stock, then a
wheel with 5.25" or less should be fine.

I'd even suggest that 5.5" or less would do the trick
