Just curious what finish you guys prefer for wheels?
What finish is easier to care for and lasts longer?
I thought chrome rusts quickly. I have chrome center caps on my utility trailer and they rusted out. Mind you I never tried to take care of them.

Mine are painted. I prefer a polished & coated wheel. (I hate polishing wheels). Chrome is ok if you get a quality wheels and feel like maintaining them.
If you go on trailrides...the wheels get killed on the first ride.

I dunno, I just keep mine covered with a healthy dose of mud, or dirt, when the water dries out..... But Mud will protect about anything... And chrome doesn't rust, I'm almost positive, Chrome is ugly as hell but is resitant to about anything you throw at it, but it is weak or expensive on its own so it is applied as a coat of paint, or a finish. You prob got a nick in the chrome on your truck and the metal under the chrome rusted out and pushed the chrome off and kept rusting...... just my .02
If you rhino line your wheels, I bet they will last forever

I prefer brushed or polished alloy. I really do not stay after the shine though. Mine are more of a dull gray.
My experience with steel wheels are they are rust prone and look bad after just a little abuse (Chrome or painted) Painted wheels can be touched up easily with a rattle can. If you stay on top of it.

Mine are flat black (ProComp 7023) and they are easy to take care of... in fact... don't really have to do anything. Covered in mud they look good too... Don't really have to do anything special to clean them either.

If you want the polished look but don't want the work of keeping them clean, There is a clear powder coat finishs out there that some brands are using. Also call a few PC companies in your area and see if they can clear powder coat a set for you.
