I'll buy whatever I can used and install everything myself, minus the tires on the rims (I've never liked doing that since my friend blew his right arm to smithereens when a rim exploded off the mounting machine and hit his arm on the way the up to the cieling. Ever see a rim shoot up and get stuck in the cieling after breaking every bone in one's arm? Those mounting machines scare the shit out of me.

I won't be getting fancy looking rims as I never liked how those look anyway. The simpler looking the better and I'll just paint them black.

OR, you can spend a couple grand and hit the freaking roof when they get hammered on your first trail!

I guess it all depends on your usage, needs, and whether or not you want to be a mall crawler or a rock crawler.
I would agree that 2400 per wheel is a bit over the top. On the other hand I don't know about a set of 300 wheels. I certainly am not complaining about the 1000 I spent on 5 AEV Pintlers for my JK. 5 KM2's were about 1350 plus mounting and balancing for 50 so a total of 2400.

I'm sure you could cobble up something cheaper if you had too. But you still have a lift to consider, and he also mentioned gears. It'll be real easy to hit 6000. Throw in front and rear bumpers and a winch and 8000 cames real soon.

On the other hand used wheels, smaller off brand tires, a BB w/o control arms or track bars, no gears, cheap Chinese bumpers and a harbor Freight winch will keep the cost cheap. I've learned enough over the years that I know that is not a wise path to follow.

And no my rig isn't a mall crawler, nor is it a DD. It's primarily used off road; and Colorado and Utah are nothing but rocks.

200-400 dollars per wheel! NOT $2400 per wheel! lol A set of $300 wheels would be Cragar soft 8's black steel wheels, that will take the abuse you can throw at them quite well! KM2's will be overkill for the bay area of SF and you can get great tires for less than that. 35x12.50LT15 Interco TrXus MT's for about 225 a piece.

He didn't mention bumpers and a winch, so that's an either or. As far as lift goes, he can do an RC 2.5" spring lift with shocks for $325, a BDS 2" BL for $200, and he doesn't need CA's, and may or may not need trackbars/brackets.

I gues Mitch's(Bulldog Fab) bumpers are cheap Chinese crap, huh? I'll bet he'd love to know that! He'll set you up front and rear for $1300 or less! Who needs a 10,000lb winch for a 4500lb. vehicle? Overkill!

Again, it's all predicated on his intended usage and the terrain he is going to wheel in.

I guess some of us like the high priced spread and some don't. To each his own. Doing something as cheaply as possible is never my goal; nor is getting by with BB's and such. As for 1300 for two bumpers - I wouldn't consider that cheap Chinese crap - unless they are made in China and then I don't care who he is or what he calls his company - it is what it is. For 1300 I'm sure you can get domestic mfg bumpers.

He'll have to decide on the terrain issue. I know in my neck of the woods going cheap can be costly.

Thanks for letting everybody know this. We only charge a "handling fee" when paypal is used.

I'll never be a hardcore rock crawler; this'll be my DD for as long as it's running and I'll take advantage of that life time warranty and consider this a lifetime vehicle. So I won't be rockcrawling most likely (but I will offroad as you can see by the pic), but I'll just want to lift it properly and according to what I'm reading on this board, if you're willing to spend some money you can get an excellent offroader that works well on the pavement too.

I didn't complain about the handling charge, I just mentioned it in my post for others to be aware of. And, it is listed on the invoice as a "Handling Charge" not a "PayPal Charge"!

BUT - They should let you know beforehand that there will be a charge for using PayPal. That would definitely clear up any misconception. I could have used my credit card just as easily since it's the one tied into my PayPal account anyway. If I had know there was a handling charge I would have just typed in my card numbers instead of hitting the "Use PayPal" link.

BUT (2)- I'm still happy with the deal I got !
