Default Why a body lift?

So alot of people on here talk about body lifts for tire clearance and what not and I don't understand it sure it's cheap but why not go with a milder suspension lift and flat flares even with the jk you can trim the flares and it will still look good? I guess personally I don't like the looks of a body lift simply because of the added gaps.

I know it doesn't make sense for me, as I need to get above the rocks....a lot of guys add a BL on top if springs because it keeps the steering geometry closer to stock. Less worry with driveshafts, etc.

I completely agree. I think a lot of people are adding the BL to existing coil lifts. Personally, i don't understand why you wouldn't just add some coil spacers and gain some belly clearance as well. But most clearance issues people have can be solved in about an hour with cutting the stock flares. But some people have some weird attachment to keeping stock flares lol

It seems to me there might be a few reasons:

- probably less expensive than a suspension lift
- should not void the warranty on your suspension if you're stuck with a dealer that's hard to work with
- an option for people who don't feel secure messing with their suspension because of geometry changes/possible DW

All about personal preference.

Another advantage of a body lift is the vehicles center of gravity isn't raised as much. Only the body is raised higher as opposed to the body, engine, drivetrain and frame.

I had a body lift on my jeep for a while. When I first got the jeep last year I installed a TF 2.5" lift and a week later I was going to buy 35" bfg km2's for $1800 out the door mounted and balanced. Then I found some 37" km2's on here for sale for $1000 for all 5. 2k miles on 4 of them and 0 miles on the spare. So I.bought them.and also bought a RC 1.25" body lift. I ran it like this for a while without any rubbing.
Since then I ditched.the front tf springs cuz they sagged a lot and.replaced them with RK springs and bilstein shocks for a 4" lift upfront and 2" lift in the rear

Here's my jeep with 2.5" lift and 1.25" body lift

Here's it is with the same lift, no body lift and some a lot more pinch seam trimming.
I still have the same up and down travel up front too...4" up and 7" down, no rubbing

So I pretty much got the body lift just to clear the 37's cuz last year when I was a newbie and didnt know much until I joined this forum. Now I can sell my body lift to someone who needs/wants it cuz I ended up having a more heavier finger on the sawzall. Lol

Body lifts are ok when you Keep it 2" and below. I know in the lifted truck community they do 4" body lifts and I'v seen some 6" body lifts on top of 6" suspension lifts. I think it looks dumb because you can see right trough the truck bed and see that the truck is on the body spacers. But different folks different strokes. Its you Jeep do what you want to do with it.

You sir have a great looking jeep! If you don't mind me asking what have you done to your front axel? I know the km2s are light. I am debating between 35s and 37s right now lol
