Default why do BFG's run small?

Just wondering if there was a reason for this. seems strange that such a popular tire company would continue to do this when it puts people off of their product. the only reason i would not buy km2's again would be because of their sieze .
Does any one know if there is a good reason?

The same reason chicks get all dolled up with make-up, or post pictures that don't look anything close to what they really look like. Do the Hamburgers really look like what McDonalds puts on those flyers? Their mold most likely is right on the money. Your not the only one who has noticed this either.

I'm running 40 x 14.50 KM2's and I love them. I had the 40 x 13.50 Goodyear Spiders and I hated them. The new Goodyears are a great tire. Toyo's are wide but heavy. All three are great tires. But, if u want big go to a bigger size (i.e. 38" and up and move to a 14.50 or 15.50 with spacers!!!)

You will find that all tire manufacturers tires run short. My 37" toyos are under 36". Same with the 37" goodyears on my CJ. The 36" Irocs I used to run were short also. Mebee 35 actual.

I'm no tire expert, but I've read the tires are measured before being mounted. So the rim width, weight of vehicle, and other things would play into the final tire height. Of course I haven't stayed at a holiday inn lately so take this as you will.

Also, this is not isolated to BFG so you won't be able to buy any tires going going forward.

That's why I'm thinking instead to buy 315/75R16 KM2 (34.8 before mount, 34 under the Jeep weight), I will buy 345/75R16 (36.4 before mount, I suppose they will end at 36/35.8 under Jeep weight). So It should fit fine with a TF3" and my D30... I hope!
