Default Why is a dropped pitman arm needed?

I really hate to start a thread for something I've seen answered before but search is failing me today. A buddy ks buying a 4" skyjacker kit without the DPA. I told him he needed it. He said why? I said.. Duurrrrppp... I can't recall. He's not yet on the forum and since I will have a hand in the install, I needed to find out. Sorry again for asking what has likely been asked a hundred times. I'll even be happy with a link. Thanks again!

well, technically, you only want to install a dropped pitman arm at the same time as a track bar relocation bracket. both need to be installed at the same time in order to keep your track bar and drag link parallel to each other. having said that, you want to do this on a 4" lift so that you can help correct your steering geometry and make it more parallel to your axle as it was from the factory. you can also do a drag link flip instead of a dropped pitman arm.
