Default Why is regearing important?

I have a 3 inch fab tech w 35 inch grapplers and I'm interested in the idea of regearing. I drive 98% on road and my jeep is automatic.

#1. Is it worthwhile to do?
#2. What are the costs?
#3. Does it affect the engine warranty?

Fire away gentlemen. Thanks in advance.

Yes
$500-$3000 depending on what options you pick
No

Go search for the charts based on your application 3.6 or 3.8 and determine where you'd like to be. You'll get a ton of different responses on what ratio to choose.

Google "myz28u how to choose what gear ratio is best for your application" and click the link. There should be some good info there for you.

Regearing is one of the best things you can do to your Jeep after increasing tire size. On a 3.8 with an auto like me, it's required if you ever want to see over drive.

I ran 35s for a short time (9-months) with no regear knowing I was most likely going to 37s. Went to 37s and regeared to 5.13, flashpaq in addition to some other things…..Well worth the money - its night a day - basically it drives stock or a little better in my opinion….i didn't regear with the 35s only because I wasnt sure about 37s or not and I didn't want to regear to a 4.88 with the 35s and then get the bigger tires. Well worth the money if you have it to spare.

Proper axle gearing will reduce stress on the rest of the driveline, from the driveshafts to the engine.
If you wheel proper gearing will allow you to tackle obsticles at a slower more controlled speed and climbing will be easier without having to run at them.
