Default Wicked shake at 45+ mph

Hey all,
Very new, very green guy here. I have a 2007 4dr jk. Shortly after I put in a 2.5 pro comp lift in I noticed I would get a death shake(i've expirenced wobbles in the past and this is much worse) when traveling at 70 mph+ and switching lanes and very uneven roads, as soon as I slow down to 45mph the shake goes away. I had it checked over at the dealer, they couln't find anything and I thought no big deal since it happens once or twice a month. Last night I was playing in the snow(just got 17 inches and when I was driving home I noticed the shake constantly if I go above 45mph. Any suggestions?

I experienced the same issue. Mine I believe was from the front upper track bar mount and the hole being larger than the bolt provided along with a faulty steering stabilizer. I decided to replace the factory provided bolt with a 9/16 bolt which is larger and fits nicely. You may have to drill the track bar bushing out a bit to allow the larger bolt to fit. Mine was so worn that it went in without any drilling. Also inspect your upper track bar mount for egg shaping. If this is the case you might want to follow the link below.

Hope this Helps.

For the DW - With the full weight of the jeep on the ground, loosen the trackbar bolts, jump up and down on the bumpers a few times, then crank those bolts down to 125 ft/lbs. If that doesn't work, pull the trackbar and check the mounting holes as jkabomb suggested. You should also check to see that your tires are balanced properly.

For the Flighty/Bumpsteer - Open the Faq's. In the Suspension area, read this one:
Q: What is Caster? How much do I need?
Sounds like your caster is too low after the lift, and you may want to add a set of front adjustable control arms.

Last night I was playing in the snow(just got 17 inches and when I was driving home I noticed the shake constantly if I go above 45mph.
This may just be snow packed in where it shouldn't be. Spray it all out and see if it drives better. (or it could be that playing in the snow made the above conditions worse?)

Had, or have the exact same problem. Took it in to have it looked out and they said there is a service recall on the steering dampener. I still have the problem because the dealer I was at didn't have any dampeners in stock and they are backordered from crysler with no idea of when they will have more.

Several people have made this exact comment recently.

Steering stabilizers cover up the real issue, and are simply a quick and cheap 'fix' for the dealership. Just because you don't feel the problem anymore, does not mean it has been corrected! Do some more testing and find out what is really going on...

I think that you should just drive the cool red jeep at work.

It doesn't have the death wobble

It was the easy, and for once the cheap, fix. It was just a whole lot of snow and ice on the front track bar. thanks for all the help!
