Will 4.56 run in a D30 and D44?
If you have 3.73's try running with no overdrive 1 to 1.. It's not too bad and it's actually roughly still 100rpm more then 5.13's would spin using OD .69 .
Now, if you chose 4.88's lower it 250 rpm roughly. from 3.73's using 1 to 1 trans ratio. versus OD .69..
Either those gears over time will make "slightly" more noise than 4.56's... But 99% of us don't care, it's a Jeep..
Even with 33's and the auto, I would go 4.88's with a D30 if you have hills at all. Imho, I'm not a fan of 5.13's in a
D30... But for some it works better. At that point I'd personally get the D44 front Rubi axle.
Now with that said 4.56's can and do work fine in some applications as stated by some here
and are slightly stronger then 4.88's.
But if you would be upset at all in gear swapping it would be 99% of the time you did not go deep enough.. Good luck.
And here is a chart for you to add numbers for "rough" Rpm or speed counts in gear choices..
