Default Will 40's Fit?

After reading Planman's setup, and seeing Wayo's ride, I think I have to go with 40's, but will they fit?

I have a 6" Teraflex LCG Lift, and Bushwacker Flat fender's. I originally thought no problem, but when I was ordering up those $300 procomp's that are on super sale right now, the guy at 4Wheelparts who has a jeep with a 6" lift was saying hey now, Teraflex says max tire height is 38", you sure you want 40's, once I order them their yours.

I called Teraflex but the JediMaster(Dennis) is out on a trail run and wont be back for a few days. So what yall think, will 40's fit and work well?

You will have to do a little bit of trimming, but they will fit. Also probably going to get some rubbing on the frame.

Will spacers solve any of it? Was thinking of getting some to help with possible rubbing.

Those are all such broad statements...

Each tire manufacturer's sizes are different, and its not uncommon that they are less than the stated "size."

You can fit almost any size tire you want on about any lift (within reason)... its just a matter of what you need to DO to it to get it to fit properly. The #1 prob with fitting in a larger tire is if it rubs when it is fully stuffed. If yes, you just have to limit how high it goes when its stuffed, or trim away what it hits. A combination of trimming and/or extended bump stops are all that it takes.

So, basically, yes its not a difficult thing to do, but you might have to do a little more work than just mount up some tires on your existing lift.

I have the TeraFlex 6" LCG LA kit, and also their SpeedBumps. I am running 37's (MTR/K's that actually measure close to the advertised size). When I first put on my lift, I did not put the bumpstops on the front spring perches with the SpeedBumps. I thought I would have plenty of room for uptravel because of my tire size, lift and the trimmed fenders. At full stuff, the inside of the tire rubs on the upper spring perch as it angles inward... Still had 2" of clearance before getting near the fender. If I had bigger bump stops, my uptravel would be less, and therefore allow more clearance for larger tires....

Just like the "LowerForety" rig... 40's on a JK without a lift... Because they put in huge bumpstops that only allowed for less than ONE inch of uptravel...

A 1" bodylift may be needed as well. and don't forget about adjusting your steer stops. Also, 40's are hard on axels, are you currently or planning to run D60's?

I already put in EVO sleeves and gussets on my stock Rubi axles.

Sounds like I just need to go back to 38's, which sucks because finding 38's is a real PIA. I hate rubbing, and with my driving style, and a chance to rub, guaranteed I will stuff them way to hard and jack something up.

Thanks for the help.
