1/2 way up the axle tube is a bit of overfill. It should just be over the top of the bottom of the axle tube. Look where the stock fill hole is and you'll see what I mean. Or, use the zip tie dip stick and fill to here:

FWIW, I filled mine up with what the factory called for. I would have went broke trying pay Stealership prices for the factory oils and additives. I have had no issues thus far. Hope this helps. JOE>

Thanks! Actually, I did not literally fill it up half way, more like 35 to 40% of the tube height. I have a sleeved front axle so I assumed I needed a little bit over the normal amount for the oil to clear the thicker inner tubes but I could be wrong on that.

From the picture I would think the normal amount is about 25% of the axle height, is that right?

Also, anybody have any idea how much oil it takes to fill up the rear 44?

Sleeving the front axle will not change your oil level the front axle has inner axle seals so the oil does not go into the tubes.

Should I drain a bit out then or leave it and see if it comes out the breather?

If you dont want a mess all over it would be better to drain a little but if it is not already blowing out you will be fine.

No mess so far. I think I'm good. Thanks to everyone for the help!

As soon as I can get one more quart of Royal Purple for the rear I will put that on and post some pics.

That's exactly what Torn and I did when changing my covers a couple weeks ago.
The stock filler hole places the top of the fluid as shown in that annotated image.
With the Riddlers, the fill hole was low enough that I was just able to use the tip
of my pinky to check the fluid heights (D30 front, D44 rear).
