Will Riddler Diff Cover Change Oil Capacity?
I got my Riddler covers all painted and got my new gear oil ready to go.
Before I swap these babys, I had the thought that the Riddler diff covers are larger than the stock ones. So when I put new gear oil in, do I need to put in more than the factory recommended volume? If so how do I tell what the new capacity should be? I thought about making myself a makeshift dip stick and jamming it to the bottom of the diff and recording the fluid level on the stock diff, then using that as a guide for the new level but wondered if anyone had a better method or could tell me if I am just over thinking it?

Yes, it will make a difference but it now takes more fluid than stock not less. look at the depth difference when you take the covers off the Ridler one is deeper.

might want to check here???

Use the amounts listed in the manual.
OK.....run low on fluid if you want not my jeep so I give a $hit...
..
But it does have a larger capacity and to get the fluid to proper level you need to put in more fluid than the stock covers. Look here>>>>>>

CAPACITIES
Engine, with filter..........6.0 quarts
Cooling System, Initial Fill..........13.0 quarts
AMSOIL Antifreeze and Engine Coolant
Automatic Transmission, Initial Fill..........4.0 quarts[1]
Automatic Transmission, Total Fill
4 speed 42RLE..........8.8 quarts
Manual Transmission, NSG370..........3.2 pints
Differential, with 186 FBI Front..........2.1 pints
Differential, with 216 FBI Front..........2.7 pints
Differential, with 198 RBI Rear..........3.9 pints
Differential, with 226 RBI Rear..........4.7 pints
Transfer Case,NV241..........4.2 pints
If you have aftermarket diff covers with a higher fill hole to accommodate a rotated axle, and you fill it to the top of the hole, it will spew diff oil out the vent tube once you get it warmed up driving down the road

Read a few posts down from that one....I was posting the stock amounts but yes I still believe the riddlers take a little more. The fluid level should be about 1/2 way up the axel tubes. The inner workings of the gears rely on the level being up at a certain level for proper lubrication. If you get them too full you will see them puke but if you have them too low you will not know until you have pre-mature gear wear. In that post it says factory level for the front is 3. something depending the type of axel you have D44, D30 etc but with the Riddlers it was recomended to go to 4.0 pints.
I would rather put in a little too much and have it puke for a day or so than have too little and wear out my gears.

Cool, half way up the tubes! Thanks Everyone! About 4 pints for the front D30. Any idea about the Rear D44 with Limited Slip? Also, where is the best place to get the friction modifier for the LS? That's the only thing I still need to find.
Just did the front. It took just under 4 pints to fill halfway up the tubes just like you guys said. Here are the pre-install pics. When I get the rear done I will post some after install pics.
