Thus the question is: What winch would you buy? Not what winch do you want.

This may be a dumb question; but why not get the 300 winch and a decent OBA system?

Are you definitely stuck on deciding between those two?

Not really. I want the Powerplant. That thing is just cool! The Smitty bilt is just so dang cheap. My thought process is this: Either I get what I really want or I spend as little as possible and fill the hole in my front bumper.

Of course if Dave brought the price down a little bit more on the Powerplant it sure would make it alot easier to choose.

Any chance a bunch of us can get together and get a better deal on a bulk purchase? I want a powerplant too!

Wink My .02

My advice is that when it comes to recovery gear, you don't wanna skimp out... You don't need the biggest or the best, but you do need something... I think the smittybilt has a two year warranty... I think I will go with the warn 8000, when I get the wallet reloaded, a winch is on my list but until then I go with a buddy or two and they can push for a free ride But if you go with the smittybilt, I have heard from a friend he saw on the web a demonstration between the SB and a superwinch and he said the were about even but the SB came out on top... I haven't found it yet, but If you don get the SB, it will last you a while, and by then you may find something more permanent....

I appreciate all of the feedback from everyone. Just called David at Northridge and got the Powerplant.
