One of the marks looked like what happened to my friend's roller with cable. It froze on him and he ate a similar mark into it on a off-angle pull. Would turn fine by hand, but on his when weight/force was applied it froze.

Why not just use the steel rollers? Were they damaged from previous use or something? The only reason to go to these "plastic" rollers is really a weight savings.

really is that the only thing is for the weight? the steel rollers will work? is that the only thing. thats what i figured but im not a pro or have that much exsperience so i wasnt sure. anyone else out there can chime in on that?

Good to know. I had these on a fairlead on my 09 and never had to use the winch, and I sold the JK. I installed a hawse fairled on my 2011 with synthetic as I felt it was more reliable

Yeah,He's right they will work as long as there in new condition. No burr's or nick's that will catch on the line.

ok thats good to know. i didnt think there was an issue but i just thought there was a reason why there were specific ones. yeah there brand new in box the second i got the winch i already bought my rubber rollers from daystar so if i cant get this resovled il throw the metal ones back on and give it a try. thank you everyone on here for your input i appreciate another set of eyes and thought.
