the only problem that i had with mile marker is the hardware that they put on their winch, its crap and will rust within 6 months.it works good but looks like crap.its been 4 or 5 years since i have had that winch,so maybe they changed the hardware since then.good luck

This probably hasn't changed...
Mine is a Mile Marker si9500. Works great, but the clutch handle is speckled with rust.

I've always had good experience with MM, it sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

About the rust: I could buy a winch cover. It can help...

The superwinch lp8500 is a piece of $hit, return it.The motor in mine was full of rust and would not work after only 3 months (rain only, never submerged). superwinch knows about the water leak issue and let me tell you, there customer service SUCKS I returned mine and got a smittbilt comp 10

Don't laugh, but I had a Harbor Frieght winch on my old TJ for a couple of years that worked OK. Not the fastest thing in the world, but works when needed. No rust but I live in Arizona where it rarely rains and only snows a few hundred miles from me.
They can be had for $300 for a 8000# and most 4x4 magazines have a 20% off coupon in them so you could get it for $240. When I bought mine a few years ago, it included the winch mounting plate too.
If you won't be using it a lot, it might be a good buy. My current winch on my JK is a Smitybuilt 8000# that I bought used with a Pure Jeep winch bumper with D rings and roller fairlead included for $400 for the whole works. It was in good shape. I think the Pure Jeep bumper alone cost about $500 new.

I have a Mile Marker PE8000. Only used it a few times, but hasn't let me down. I have had it on the front of my jeep for about two and a half years and no rust.

Its not sexy, but I got a harbor freight 10K winch for $300 and that was with a mounting plate. I found a "vortex" 10K winch on ebay for something like $260 and $300 was the closest they would go to a price match. I feel like it was a good value and it works good for my unlimited. No rust yet, and we get rain here about 2 out of 3 days in the summer and spring.
