And it's not even a hardcore trail. You'd have fun on Fins and things.

If it didn't take so damn long to upload, I would post a video of mine in the late fall of last year heading up the mountain where I did try to use my lockers but on a fairly steep grade and the path being iced over, the jeep had no chance of making it up that hill. I could have winched up if I really had to but I didn't know what else was beyond that and then there was the thought of having to come back down that path. Winching up is one thing, but winching down?

Yeah, it's unfortunate we have to deal with this but here we are.

Can't find that video. Not sure I kept it. Here is the time I used my winch for the first time. You might want to fast forward to 11 minute mark.

This video pisses me off for a few reasons.. First, it makes me want to be wheeling. NOW. Second, my first time using my winch was on a jet ski trailer - and I didn't film it. And finally, what was that little black animal running from you around 6 minutes?

Seriously though - I'm glad I have my winch (Superwinch 9.5i SR) and my hi-lift jack and I'm glad I haven't needed to use either.. Excellent peace of mind though. Honestly- if you were to ask me which one of the three (winch, hi-lift, lockers) made me feel the "safest" while wheeling alone, I'd say the winch. Hands down.

One of my fears about wheeling in Colorado is most of the trails are one way in and one way out and if a tree or a boulder should come down on the trail behind me, would I be able to move it to get off the trail. This wasn't the biggest of boulders but big enough that it would have given me troubles had I not had a winch.

Cool video! The Colorado mountains are pretty awesome. So I think we have concluded that I will get a winch first, a good winch. Lockers for sure later. Im thinking the Superwinch Talon 9.5 SR. Im getting a E1 basic bumper, and thats the winches they like to sell with them. Plus I can get a 10% discount with them.

Is a good lift more important than lockers? I would think so, lots of benefits there.

How important are rock sliders and armor starting off?

Armor was the first thing I done I wanted to make sure I had it "protected" before even starting wheeling (even though I didn't have immidiate plans of crawlilng over rocks).. I think I misquoted the model I have in an earlier post (will go back now and correct it).. Anyway, the one you're looking at is the same one I have. I have the 9.5i SR. The SR is for "synthetic rope". I believe the "i" means that the solenoid is "integrated" (as opposed to seperate from the winch body).
