Default Winch plate question

I am in the process of mounting my superwinch talon to my bumper. Because of the width of this winch I had to re drill the winch plate so it would fit. Now the problem is it is really hard to access the bolts from the bottom and the bumper which is mounted to the jeep and I really don't want to have to pull it off again...So my question is does it matter which way the bolts go when mounting the winch? In the diagram it shows the bolt coming up from the bottom and the nut sitting in legs of the winch but it seems like it might be easier if I install bolts in legs and let them drop through the holes in plate and put the nuts on the bottom. Does it matter? Hope this makes sense
