I got my winch and will be installing it soon. Reading the instructions it says to unspool all the line and put it back on with a #500 load.....How do I go about doing this?

 

The way I did it was drive to a parking lot that had a slight incline, hook up to a tree near the top and use the winch to pull myself up the incline. Wasn't much but it was enough to put the recommended 500lbs or whatever it was on the wire for its first spooling.

I've also heard of people pulling cars up hills for the first usage.
