Default Winch IN stock bumper

Hey guys....I have seen a few people on here with the winch mounted inside the stock bumper. For the life of me I can't seem to find anything about it here now...

Does anyone have any info as to what dimension of winch will actually fit there and maybe a link to a thread about it.

Thanks

Looks like with the Rubi I am SOL. Gonna have to be sitting up on the bumper.

You are not SOL with the Rubicon. There's several guys that have modified something so it will fit. If I recall correctly, they mount the winch "upside" down, then carve out a little notch in that subframe bar to allow the winch clutch disengagement to turn.

Go to page 11 in that link. Svt2224 has fabbed up a plate to use it on a Rubi & upright. I read the entire thread & he's the only one to actually fab a plate. I searched last week & never found any stock bumper threads lol But I drew up plans & started building one so when it's done I'll post pics & dimentions for fab guys to use.

Otherwise all the other installs in that thread are just modified upside down winch plates which is deff the easiest & quickest way to go. I prefer to mount the winch as low as possible though as it's better that way.

Yeah post up pics for sure. I'd love to see what solution you come up with.

Buy a universal winch plate, flip it upside down so the winch will hang between your frame rails, cut the front cross member up front so the plate acts as the cross member, cut the bumper cover to fit the fair lead through and bobs your uncle.

Check out Quadratec. They sell a WARN winch mount for factory JK bumpers. It sits just above the bumper and mounts to the factory bumper mounts without modding the bumper. It's about $365.00.

Few pics of mine. I used the Q9000 Winch from Quadratech with a universal winch plate from Harbor Freight. Also used the OR‑FAB relocation kit for my vacuum pump.

Here are some with and without the plastic bumper. I have tons of pics, let me know I can send them over.
