Both recoil when something breaks. If half your hook or mounting point breaks on either it will become a dangerous projectile so always use caution.
2 more thing:

Synthetic Pros: No rust

Steel Cons: RUST!

Default recon 10500

will this recon winch mount well to a smittybilt xrc front? This bumper already has the four holes drilled presumably for a smittybilt winch, I didn't know how other winches would be bolted down

I went with the Smitty XRC8 comp winch paired with a Rock Hard stubby. I've used it three times for recovery. Works great.

Default xrc 8 comp

That looks great! My buddy just worried that the rating wouldn't hold up/be very close to being able to pull me out of anything in a 4 door, but obviously it's worked great for you!

I was also looking into the xrc rock sliders vs the ACE. did yours fit correctly? I had heard that smitty was fixing the previous problems because they didn't line up. I have heard nothing but great reviews for ace.

Yes sir,

My friend had in his xrc bumper and fit perfect. I have the recon winch too, but mounted in the rugged ridge bumper. Both fit well.

No problem with my rock sliders, fit well and is super solid. Only 1 hour the install, easy and simple.

Thanks all! I'm thinking i'm gonna go with the recon winch, bout 125 cheaper and if it fits the bumper, i'm good for it. still undecided about the sliders, but i'm sure i will choose soon
