Default Windshield mounted lights... Mopar brackets versus...

I've been reading through some of the threads about windshield bracket mounted lights but I'm still trying to figure some things out. It looks like the Mopar brackets move the lights out towards the mirrors. It would seem like this would get them out of the driver's field of view versus the more upright mounts. It also seems like larger diameter lights on the Mopar brackets can interfere with the radio antenna.

Do I have all this right or am I on the wrong track?

Thanks!

I actually just switched from the rugged ridge brackets to mopar and its a huge difference. Price is also a big difference. I like the mopar brackets better because the lights are off to the side and do not obstruct the windshield as much. With the mopar brackets you do have to bend the antenna. Mopar includes a bracket to bend the antenna around behind the light. I did not have to bend or move the antenna with the rugged ridge brackets. The lights cleared it fine. I am running Hella 1000s.

These are MBRP's with KC 130's. I had to bend the antenna no biggy, Only thing I didn't like was no gasket but cut one out of a tire tube but nicely made bracket.

Hope this helps

I have the MBRP brackets over 50% less than Mopar brackets. The only downfall with larger than 5" lights is trying to lift the passenger side wiper blade. I can be a small pain in the winter months to clean the windshield. I mounted IPF 968 lights and I had to bend my antenna as well and add some foam strips on the back of the bracket to mount to the windshield.

Well, the price is certainly right but it looks like the MBRP brackets are similar to the KC and others that are pretty much straight up and put the lights inboard. Do you find that the lights are in your field of view?

With the MBRP bracket and my IPF lights, I don't find them blocking much of my view.

You're spot on. The Mopar brackets do move the lights out to the side, I much prefer this. Here's 8" KC long range on Mopar brackets. They do move the lights out to the side, so from the cab they barely interfere with line off sight. Yes, the stock antenna needs to be bent, or replace it with a cheap shorty.

I recall seeing the new Smittybilt brackets in the 4WD mag. Remember them being very similar shape to Mopar brackets for half the price.

Excellent tip on the SmittyBilt brackets! They're pretty much identical to the Mopar brackets for less than half the price.

Thank you!

Olympic also makes an inexpensive bracket that gets the lights outboard (like the smittys) but the light sits up higher (which may result in less hood glare depending on what light you use.) I already bought the Olympics, I'm going to buy the smittys as well and then keep whichever pair works best with Lightforce 170's.
