Could anyone tell me how you ran the wiring for these lights, I don't think it is too complicated.

also I would like to locate the switch on the lower center console using the cooltech switch plate. Here I just wanted to know how much I would have to remove of the center dash to get the wires there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the Forum. If you pull the four allen bolts that hold the center cowl down you'll be able to lift the cowl up enough to slip the wires through. Get the kit as VaughnJK suggested and it'll have everything you need. You'll find the wires route easily from the battery/relay/fuse holder around the vertical piece of sheet metal and into the area under that cowl. Be sure not to over tighten those bolts or you'll strip out the sheet metal.

The biggest PITA will be running the wires into the interior. Some folks punched a hole somewhere in the engine comp heat shielding where there is a pre-existing hole. I punched a hole in the grommet located under the battery tray where a wiring harness runs through the firewall. Once the two wires are through that it's fairly easy to string them under the passenger side dash to the center. If you pull the carpet back around the center dash/console you'll find a bolt/ bracket that holds down that center dashboard. It is a perfect place to hook your ground wire to.

The CoolTech switchplate is a piece of cake to hook up. Hint: If you have an AT, before you start, turn the key to the ON postion, shift down to drive 1 and pull the 4wd lever into 4 lo. Then yank the negative cable from tha battery. You'll need that room to work. The instructions from the kit should take you from there. Good luck.

Does that help?
I think I read something about that mentioned somewhere, but I couldn't find it for my state. How would one find the legalities of the kc's and the road?

In california you can get access on the dmv website. For California it stated that they need to be on a seperate switch. Technically mine are. It also states they need an opaque cover which I do not have. The only thing I get from the coppers are &

What are you guys using as a padding between the brackets and the paint? I have some thin rubber washers in the tool box, but I'm not too sure thats gonna cut it.

If you mount lights on the bumper and the windsheild, can you use the same relay or do you need to have a seperate relay and switch?
