Talking Windshield Protective Film Mod

I'm considering a mod to protect the windshield from kicked up rocks, etc...as the flat, upright glass wall thing gets hit/cracked pretty easily from what I've seen.

3M and a few others have impact resistant films, similar to the headlight films for the same purpose, etc.

I was wondering if anyone else has already done this, and if so, if they had any feed back on it.

I am going to wrap my entire friggin Jeep in this stuff... LOL

Yeah - both links in that thread were dead (To me...)

The 3M & Xpel stuff looks great...I seem to only get headlight hits on it though, no windshields...

There's a few versions floating around though...it looks like some of it, they want you to have it done professionally at one of their approved dealers, etc.

that film is great stuff although it isn't the best optical grade
i have seen it used on store windows in and out. the glass may shatter with impact but it won't crumble to pieces it laminates the window between it opposite as what car windows have.

the only problem is debris blasting the film say your driving on a dirt road and a vehicle is in front of u does not kick up stones but smaller particles sand dirt dust debris

well that glass cover stuff is softer than glass and it all leaves marks say u turn on ur wipers and there is dirt on the blades

what we need is a windshield with a layer of corning Pyrex on it!

The cheap stuff is a problem on those issues...the good stuff is fine...and you can even carnuba wax it along with the rest of the JK.

The one's I'm considering have a lifetime warranty against yellowing, UV damage, etc.

Some have a 1 or a 2 yr warranty period....forget them.

I've had it on my hood and a few other places for over a year now.
No yellowing, works like a charm.
I also had thought about doing the windshield.

And the other idea is to put it on your door hinges to prevent rocks from being kicked up and nicking them.

You can buy it as a sheet or cut out for the JK.

I have the site I used at work. I can probably get it on monday.
It was 3M and very inexpensive.

I'm pretty sure this is where I got it from. I'll verify on Monday.
