Default x vs. rubicon suspension question

i have an X, and from what i have read rubicons have a suspension that is one inch taller then the X. if this is true could i do a 3.5" lift with the same equipment used on a 2.5" BB?

This is true, without any extra bolt-ons that would add weight, the X and Rubicon are 1" apart due to the Rubicon suspension being taller.

Yes and no, it depends what your talking about. Lets talk about what a lift does. If you put a 2.5 bb (spacers above stock springs) on a rubicon it will raise the frame 2.5 inches higher above the axles. The same 2.5 bb on an x will have the same effect, it will raise the frame 2.5 inches higher off the axles. Now if you want to compare actual height of the frame relative to the ground then yes, the rubi will sit taller cause the stock springs are taller. This is why some people can fit 35's with a 2.5 bb while others can't. Now if you go with the 2.5 coil lift, or any coil lift for that matter, it doesn't matter what model you have cause the springs are being replaced, so overall height from ground to framer should match (unless one is loaded with weight from a winch bumper, gas cans ect.).

Back to your original question I'm a little confused. Are you talking about doing a rubi spring swap plus a bb?

You also got to figure that the rubi's come with 32" BFG MT's, and X's come with 30" GY SRA's..

HMMM.....

I remember seeing on here a while back that on our JKs, spring height is the same for the x and a rubi, on a tj, yes there is a 1" difference in spring height of the rubis vs non rubis. And yes, on our JKs a rubi will sit higher than an x but that is generally due to the taller tires. I'm sure more will chime in on this

Check the part numbers on your springs. The springs on my X Unlimited are the same as what's put on some Rubi's. In fact, my front springs are taller than the Rubi take off's I purchased.

My X came with 32" tires as well. I parked next to a Rubi today and there was no height difference.

Before installing my JKU Rubi Springs and shocks I had parked next to a stock 2-door Rubi .. and even though we both had 32" tires .. the Rubi was about an inch higher ... not sure about the Unlimited ...

I ve wondered that as well. Would I get more lift on my ruby with a 2.5" BB then with a 2.5 coil lift? Always thought the rubicon springs were higher.
