Default XRC8 comp winch

Anyone who has the above winch know what kind of synthetic winch line comes on it out of the box? I'm pretty sure this is the winch for me (budget-wise and amount of usage it will see) and was just wondering if the line is any good or not? I'm planning on adding a Viking safety thimble in lieu of the thimble and hook that it appears it comes with.

Just installed the XRC10, I can't tell what brand line it is. I can take some pictures if you would like.

pics would be cool if it isn't too much trouble. what is your initial impression? i've read plenty of reviews and it seems that they're a good buy for the money. plus coming with the synthetic line is a nice little bonus.

My initial impression is that the price was right and install easy. I have not pulled with this under load yet so hopefully someone else can speak up. The synthetic line was a good point for me. I just did not want to fool with the metal line. I did end up putting in a new battery which I may or may not have totally needed. I think I may have not tightened the connections super great on my first attempt. I also need to spool the line better. Still practicing on getting it in there better.

awesome! thanks for all the pics. it's going to be a long next 3 weeks or so until i get my taxes filed and receive my return. i'm really looking forward to getting a winch and front bumper so i can go play a little harder and not worry about getting into something i can't get out of.

Default Buy what you choose, but choose carefully.

There are a lot of folks here that speak well of the smittybilt 8000 pound winch but I would like to make a point that you should consider before you spend money on a winch of any manufacture. Look for the availability of spare parts before you buy. Not all winches have customer after sales support and spare parts availability and they become throw away winches when something goes wrong. Be an informed buyer.

Good point on after the sale service and parts. Any recommendations? I've read Engo have tested well. Just not quite sure if Warn is the winch for me at this time with cost.

Quite a few of the people I wheel with have them, with no problems to speak of yet. I have heard it's a good idea to disassemble and reassemble with locktite as they aren't put together particularly well. I just got mine on friday, but I am waiting on my bumper to arrive before I can do anything with it. Haven't taken it out of the box yet.

I signed up for a free amazon prime trial, got the winch for 450 and overnight shipping for 3.99!

Easy winch to mount on the Body Armor bumper!! Ran the control through the firewall to center console. Heavy piece to lift on yourself!!

Nice looking rig Brent1024. It must look like the sun is coming up when you turn all those lights on.
