Default Your Spare Tire

Sound off... how are you carrying your spare? Surely you don't have a stock spare hidden under a spare-tire-cover.

Did you drop $1k on a swing away tire carrier/bumper or $100 on a stock relocator bracket to carry the 35" spare?

I'm still using the stock set up with 35s although I am hoping for a shorty rear bumper and tire carrier that works in the fashion of the Expedition One, meaning the tire carrier and door swing together.

I spent about 15 dollars and made my own relocation mount to fit my new spare to the stock carrier. When gate is closed, spare just rests on the bumper cut-out, not just hanging by the carrier. Oh course my tires are only 34's.

I got a spare tire carrier, a very nice one, and I'm in Michigan also, so when you see me riding around you'll have to grab your barf bag real fast

I've got a Rugged Ridge XHD Rear w/Tire Carrier - it looks great. I've been deployed most of the time it's been on, so I can't say much about the ride...I do know when I come down off big bumps I hear a sound I can't quite identify. I'm pretty sure it's the tire swing rubbing up and down on the rubber bumper stops, but my bro says he thinks it might be coming from underneath...anyone have the same?

A rear bumper w/spare carrier is on the short list of big ticket item's for when the JK is payed off. Really don't like all that weight hanging on the tailgate hinges as I plan on keeping my ride a long time.

Mine made me 100$. Took my old bracket and light off and sold em. Now i dont run a spare on the gate. When i had a spare there it wore the hinges out and was stock size.

Now I just throw my spare in the back if im wheeling or taking a trip.

Had my 33" spare on the stock tire carrier until my Shrockworks bumper arrived.

I had my 35" mounted on the tailgate with a spacer. This only lasted a couple of weeks. The rattle and groan of the weak gate got me worried. Its ratchet strapped in the back passenger side cargo area to the rollbar.. 2door with backseat removed.

Hoping to upgrade to a bumper/carrier soon.
