Default Your thoughts on Hypertech chip?

I've checked out a few different chips and they all seem to have their best gains at higher RPMs. I'm just looking for a bit betetr mileage and maybe some more torqu but I drive pretty conservatively rarely getting close to 3,000 rpms. Would I be wasting my $?

I have the Hypertech programmer and love it. It gives me better throttle response and shifting throughout. Well worth the money. Oh and I live one town over from you in Yorktown, we should go wheeling sometime.

I have the Hypertech, which isn't a chip, but is a programmer. My recommendation: Get it over the chip options because it allows you to set tire size and gear ratios. That means your odometer/trip computer will be accurate. As for performance gains: Extraordinarily subtle. I'm running it in regular gas setting (there is a premium setting, as well). If you can afford the Hypertech programmer, go ahead and get it. If not, then buy the Accupro, which allows you to set the tire size and gear ratios. Then, later if you decide you can afford the Hypertech, you can pay for a software upgrade.

What they said... As far as I know none of the options right now are offering real mileage improvements. You might get some by putting everything right with the computer, but nothing you could brag about.

I have the Hypertech Max Energy and a 6-speed Rubicon 2 door.
When I first got it I set tjhe programming for premium fuel and noticed a big improvement in driveability and a mild torque increase.
But with our gas crisis and regular was only available I filled up with that and reset the Jeep with the Hypertech for regular.
I actually like the regular setting better, low speed driveability is even smoother although it may be marginally down on torque, and mileage has increased maybe 1 mpg.

Of course it's hard to qualify differences, I've just got to 2500 miles and the little Jeep just flies along now.

I was coming home from work the other night, late, about 10:30PM, cruising at 75-80mph passing a couple of trucks, 18 wheelers, and then a late model 'vette went by, and I pulled out to pass another truck. "Heck, I've got the Valentine 1 on the dash, and that 'vette is going pretty fast" I thought, so I just eased it up to 90mph on a slight downhill grade.

The Jeep was just ripping along in 6th, smooth, purring, soaking up the road irregularities with the OME springs & shocks, "wow, I'm up to 95 now", closing on the 'vette a bit now, and then the V1 went off, fairly weak KA signal, getting stronger, started slowing, and pulled into the other lane behind the 'vette.
I could see the V1 arrow on his dash also, he probably got the warning before I did, bet he doesn't have a tinted front windshield.

We passed the patrol car sitting off the road at about 77mph, then the 'vette guy gave me the thumbs up and zoomed away. I got back up to 80mph and just held it there.
Fast enough on 35" mud tires! And no need for premium fuel.

I have no complaints with mine. It seemed to smooth everything out, but I really wanted it for the ability to change tire sizes. I havent seen much of a change at all in MPGs but it might just be the way I drive.

Just installed the hypertech 2 days ago. I'm currently testing out the Premium settings. Driving it to the gas station with 1/8 regular gas, if felt no power increase but the engine would shake a lot more on idle. After filling up with the premium gas and driving off, that's when I felt a pretty big difference in power. I will use the premium settings untill this tank of gas is all used up, then i'll be goin back to regular because i don't think the extra power is worth the extra gas price.

I have one of these, and I have been using the Regular setting. Noticeable power and torque diffrence. It really helps to offset the huge power loss of the 35's.

Im bored today so im updating it to the Premium setting to see what that does.

I did notice a slight improvement at take-off & on the auto the gears would hold a bit longer. There is a slight performance gain, but nothing that would give you the off the seat experience. I purchased the programmer mainly for the axle & gear tuning, but figured the mild boost in HP & TQ would just compliment the package... As for the MPG improvement, I've noticed that after switching to 33's it did not change dramatically....I have still been averaging 15.6 ~ 16.1 mpg city driving...

Default Regarding hypertech programmer

I installed the hypertech program, more power but it did not help the milage. I ran the program for about 1000 miles and then reverted back to the factory program.
