I installed my hypertech last week, set it on premium with premium gas, and I have notice maybe a little change in power. Like others said, I did notice smoother gear changes. I bought it for gear and tire adjustments, worked great. I haven't made any long trips to check any MPG change. I am happy with it, but I wouldn't buy it if you are only looking for MPG improvement.

I'm soon to go to 33" tires with a 2.5" lift. Sounds like a good deal if I can program for tire size, improve drivability without compromising mileage. Just need to save up a few more sheckles to make it happen.

So with 35s and 4.10s would this programmer help get some of the lost power back from the larger/heavier rolling mass by adjusting the shift points and would it negate the need to regear? Thanks.

Well, I have 37s on and 4.10s (until my 5.13s arrive) and the programmer has done nicely. I would not say it negates the need to re-gear, but driving around town is tolerable. So, if I were you I would try the programmer alone without gearing for a month or two. I think deciding to re-gear depends on where (mountains vs. flatland) and how (heavy rock climbing/mudding vs. light trail) you drive. If I didn't have the money for gears I would just drive with 37s, 4.10s, and hypertech, no problem. (I have the money saved, I live in the Mountains at altitude, and I spend most of my time in the jeep on steep trails, thus I shall re-gear.)

Im looking at pretty flat terrain, occasion trails, with 35s and 4.10s, so do you think the programmer would suit my needs without having to drop the coin for gears?

From everything I've read, they are not an equal bang for the buck. The results are too inconsistant for me to buy one. Some say it works, some not. It seems like maybe they work better on a Jeep with other mods like exhaust and intake, but for those who are stock, they don't work so well.

Mine is a stock setup. 2 door auto and the Hypertech gave me smoother shifts and much better throttle response from the crappy Jeep programming. Best $300 Ive spent on the Jeep.

Cool. I'd like to hear from someone with a stock Unlimited with 3.73s.

I think that's going to depend on you. I have the six speed, 33s and 4.10s with the Hypertech. I sure wouldn't want to be running 35s without regearing. But that's me.
