Has anyone had any legal issues running a stubby bumper in MA? I just purchased a stubby with stinger and was wondering what I'm in for. Will I need to swap to the original bumper for inspections? Any one know the law in Ma regarding front bumpers? I did a search and could not find an answer. Thanks

Many people do it. States don't have to have anything in their code about this because it is stated in the National code that a front bumper must cover from tire to tire. Meaning the stubby is illegal. It is also in the Fed code that nothing shall extend past the front or rear bumper. Grill gaurds, stingers, hitches, etc. Again a lot of people dont' get in trouble for this. But, I have seen insurance companies push the issue. I was rearended in my old pickup with the removable reciever hitch in place. Now, i was not at fault and had no damage to my vehicle. But, my insurance was held liable for the damage caused by the hitch..
