Spring trail run
How did I miss this post yesterday lol. Well if memory serves me correct there was still a bit of snow in late may/early june at tolland. I'll see if I can dig up some pictures. I may have deleted them. Aaaaaaanyways. I know of another trail in CT but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe i'll get out and hike it and see how it is. Also there is a trail down the road from my new house that we MAY be able to try. I haven't gone to far on it because I never had the time to explore. My work schedule is basically 4 weekends on and 4 weekends off.
i was super close to putting the top down today
for all the newguys and just to make the rest of you itch a little more... pics from two of the Tolland runs...

That was a fun day... a little more humid than I like it, meh... but still fun.
Next time, I'm leaving my top and doors on so I can get muddy.
Well, top for sure, maybe the doors can stay home... a little mud is okay... I like mud, but not as much a Sean... LOL.

I'm new to wheeling, a little nervous about the water depth being stock, but definitely interested. I'm planning to get some of the basic gear in the next few weeks (CB, recovery straps ect.) Any specific required gear for these runs?
we're not a club so there is nothing specific. It makes it A LOT easier on everyone to have front and rear recovery points and at least a cb or 2way radio so we can all communicate. Someone may have an extra cb or 2way radio.
I'm fully stock, no lift or anything.
As JeepinMass said, I'd recommend a CB and some tow straps, and definitely front and rear recovery points.
Hope to see you out there! That was my first trail run and I had SO much fun!
yeah the first time i did Tolland around the time we are planing to go the water was at the highest i could ever see it being at and i was stock then. this trail is very tame and shouldn't give you any problems. the mud pit this time of year seems to scare people but it isnt really that bad. come along and do only what you feel comfortable with
I can probably make it down, I am totally new though. I have had my jeep 6 months now and hasn't seen anything but concrete and snow! If someone can fill me in on the basics on what I need etc. And I am totally stock if that helps! Thanks!
For any new wheelers that want to join us:
We're not a "hardcore" group that'll make fun of you if you're not comfortable doing a particular obstacle. We ARE a group of (reasonably) nice people that'll help you out if you get stuck, and will give you a spot on any tough sections that you're worried about.
I mentioned high water earlier, but this wasn't to scare anyone off - you CAN (and will) be able to cross the water at stock ride height, you just may get a little water in over the door sills (but that's what your drain plugs are for!). As long as you go nice and slow, you also shouldn't have to worry about hydrolock.
Of all the trails I've wheeled, Tolland is definitely the easiest. I can only think of one small obstacle where you may want a spotter, and even that is pretty tame. In fact, there's no section I can think of where you'd even need to worry about rollover (whereas Westfield has a couple hairy spots).
So, if you want to wheel and meet a bunch of friendly fellow Jeepers, come out and play!
