Default Stubby Bumper laws MA

So I know MA has some quirky laws of the road. I know usually they don't hold you to half of them. ie wheels sticking out farther than fenders. However, seeing as my jeep is my DD if I were to get into an accident I can't afford some angry individual pulling out the book on me.

Is it illegal to run a stubby bumper in MA? This will be my final decision to the following thread...

I chopped my stock bumper for the RC kit last July and have not had a problem. Just replaced that with a Rugged Ridge stubby a couple weeks ago which is a just bit shorter. My work commute is back and forth from MA to CT every day. Passed plenty of town and state police and don't think they've ever even batted an eye at me.

Heat, I'm pretty sure you are violating several MA laws with your "mostly stock" rig however, like others, I haven't run into any issues yet with my RR stubby or my tires sticking out a bit.

From what I "remember", tires are supposed to have full coverage, however, 1/2" or so is not considered a violation. Bumpers are supposed to have full coverage. Most of us know the lift laws which, in summary for us minivan drivers, means about 4" of total lift is the max we can do legally (you 2 door owners come in less than that).

My inspection sticker "HAD TO" fail me twice on my last inspection because my sensors hadn't fully reset from a computer flash my dealer recently did. Other than that, they asked no questions.....plus, the did some of my mods so I kind of had that going for me!

I haven't had problems with the po po regarding my stubby, but I can't pass an inspection for the life of me. I need to hit up some of the stations you guys are hitting up, they get me for my tires.

It is "illegal" to have a stubby front bumper in EVERY state. The inspection station may not say anything. The cops may never say anything (I don't know too many that know any of the codes for modified vehicles). The only thing you have to watch out for is the lawsuits should you get into an accident. I did the RR stuby with the RRC because it "technically" covers the front tires.
