Tolland Labor Day (take 3)
Let's try this again. No illnesses or pagers allowed this time
Anyone from MA, CT, NY, VT want to join us on Labor Day in Tolland?
It's legal, extensive and varied terrain, and it's not that far from central CT, Keene/Brattleboro, even Albany NY.
Here's pics from the Memorial Day trip Jantarek organized:

Here's the location:

We can meet at Tolland Town hall on Rt 57 between 11:00 and 11:30 am.
The area is good for at least 4 or 5 hours of wheeling, so it's worth the trip (over 2 hours for me).

Thanks for the invite... tell you what - I'm gonna run this by the little lady tonight, and if she's up for the drive with me, count us in. Will post back in the next day or so with the answer - those pics look like a lot of fun - I'm hoping the wife's game for some wheeling... (Yes, I know I'm whipped
).
).
I'll be there for sure this time with the wife and kids.
It'll be nice to finally meet up and do some wheeling!
Finally added a rear hitch, too, so I can get yanked out if need be.
Also got my CB antenna installed and coax routed but can't find my cb.
Stored it from the last vehicle and I'll be damned if I know where it is.
Looks like a good excuse to get the smaller Cobra 75!
If I have a cb by Monday I'll monitor channel 4.....

OK - the wife and I are in.
CB's aren't a requirement, I hope?
I have tow hooks up front, can arrange to have a tow hitch in back if needed, and have a strap that should work if needed (never used yet - given to me as a gift). I always carry a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and flashlight. What else, if anything, do I need to take with me? Are we doing any sort of cookout or anything (should I bring food/beer/etc.)? Let me know!

Excellent! Welcome aboard!
My nephew is coming in his 97 TJ, so we've got four Jeeps.
No, CBs not required. I got one because most of the clubs (of which I haven't joined yet) require them, and Jantarek and his friend had'em last time. Just convenient, but not a big deal w/just 4 or 5 jeeps.
I also have a pair of Motorola Talkabouts - if someone has another pair, we'd be all set.
Some cells might work out there, but Sprint doesn't.
Something in back is always better than nothing, but as long as you don't get stuck on a narrow trail w/no one in front of you, we should be fine!
This area isn't real tough, and I bet the water crossings are pretty low, so no worries. I've got straps, D rings, a tree saver, and a 48" hi lift, so between all of us, we should be OK.
We usually stuff a large cooler (love my Unlimited!
) w/subs, chips, H20, fruit, Gatorade, RedBull, etc. I think eating cold food takes up just the right amount of time to decompress and stretch the legs, without burning too much daylight, but if you want to bring a gas grill, go right ahead. I can think of at least 1 clearing where there's room for that.
Add bugspray and sunscreen to your list. I also have a folding army shovel, matches, compass.
Looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great time.
