Lightbulb Catalytic Converter needs replacing

So I pulled the information on my check engine light and it tells me my catalytic converters need replacing. Soon after that my JK starts to have that rattle because the cats are heating up and clogged. I don't want to spend a bunch of money on this when I can probably just get it straight piped and call it a day. I'm in MS so there is no law that says I have to have cats on my Jeep. I wonder if you guys have done this or can suggest the right parts.

Welcome to JKF.. Good group with much experience and knowledge.. Interesting post question, haven't read any with that question. I see you have a 2013 JK so 3.6L .. the Cats are up at the exhaust manifolds so Good Luck; I am no help on this one other than to suggest find a salvage yard with many 3.6l wranglers willing to sell Cat Converters..

I think that there are so many of us that live in states with emission testing that there aren't many exploring a straight pipe scenario. I can't recall one on here, but that doesn't mean some won't chime in.

You don't have to purchase anything but some gaskets. Remove the cats, take a pipe and bust out all the clogged matrix ( save it to recycle, it's worth money ) and put them back on. It will throw codes from the downstream o2 sensor for the cats being inefficient.
