Default First Bad Experiance

Hello All,

Again I thank you all fro the warm welcomes on my first post.

I wanted to get your guys advice on something. I have had some bad experiances lately with my dealer.

I got the Jeep last saturday... was prepped and looked great. Took delivery and I was told to come back when some of the freebie options they were giving me arrived. Small things, the only real big thing were the all-season mats.

So I come to get the mats and they offered to clean the Jeep again inside and out to make it look fresh and so there wasnt dirt underneath the new mats.

My mistake I feel was here... letting them clean the Jeep. Of course at this time I feel there is nothing to worry about. In fact I thought it was cool of them.

The sales man takes the jeep off to the detailing guys. The jeep comes back a half hour later looking worse than before! I was like WTF is this?? It looked as though they took a wet dirty rag and wiped my jeep all over with it. There were deep swirls everywhere... even some minor scratches! My Soft top windows were all scratched and swirled. I was sooo angry!

I told the salesman I can not take that back... you guys detroyed it and need to fix it or give me a new Jeep. I honestly wanted a different jeep at the time. The sales man said... it's a jeep, rugged don't need to worry about the appearance... plus it's black!

After he said that I lost it. I told him that would be fine if I did it myself or it was a year or so old, but 3 days old... not acceptable. So they took it back to go fix it. Instead of actually cleaning it they wiped it down again and without washing used a buff machine on it!!! It came back with buff waves and wax spots all over the plastic peices.

So they agreed it wasnt good enough..so they tell me to bring the jeep back a day later and they will give me a loaner so they can spend more time on this. I drop it off the next day pick it back up and get a cleaner car but that's it. Couldn't even get the fine swirls out. I told the guy I could get them out but it's not my responsibility right now.

Also to make me even more pissed they switched out my scratched soft top windows with another vehicle on the lot that was scratched just as bad if not worse. Now they tell me to bring it back again to have another one oof there paint specialists to fix it. I told them it can be fixed without being touched up or repainted.

I said let me take it to a shop that I trust and you can reimburse me, they said no they want to have there guys do it. So this will be almost a 4th time dropping it back off. I also no need a set of new... not switched but new soft top panels. They are hesitant on that part.

So now i'm not sure what is going to happen but next wednesday I am dropping it off again. I know they are not going to be able to fix it properly.

I really just want a new vehicle. I think I deserve that much from all this headache, but they said they don't have to and there it no right of recision in VA so they don't have to give me a new one!

Am I being too over the top? Should I not worry b/c it is a Jeep?

Sorry for the long rant! To be continued if anyone wants to hear what happens!?

Thanks for the input.

I just finished sending a long email to DC, but i'm not getting my hopes up as i've seen posts from others that have contaced them.

I don't think I can go to another dealer. I def. would not buy from this one again.!

It wasn't Hendrick Jeep in Woodbridge was it? Ive had my Jeep serviced there and it was definetely hit or miss with them. They seem to not care very much.
I'm having problems with engine turning over sometimes, possibly a weak battery but Im definetely not taking it back to Hendrick.

But you have every right to be pissed IMO. You just bought a brand new vehicle and it should be delivered to you in NEW condition. I would have been off my hinges if the salesman told me "it's a jeep, rugged don't need to worry about the appearance... plus it's black!"

It was Farrish Jeep/Dodge in Fairfax. The whole sales experiance was fine, it wasn't until they had their detail guys go over my Jeep till **it started hitting the fan.

I am regretting buying from them! I wish I searched and found this forum before going to buy!

Lesson learned.

I still haven't heard anything back from DC. Not holding my breathe!

I had the same experience with my last car.

I bought a brand new black Acura TL. When I picked up the car and inspected it, the car looked great but it was a grey day out. The next morning the sun was shining and I saw swirl marks all over the car. It looked like someone prepped the car with a dirty rag. I also wanted to return the car. When I brought it back to the dealer his explanation was "It's black." He brought it to his detailer and he gave me buff marks to go with the swirl marks.

Swirl marks are inevitable on black cars. And, as much as I love black cars, I’ll never get another one. It’s just to depressing the day you discover those swirl marks.

Yeah black is indeed tough to keep clean, and will without a doubt get swirls...

Black is one of the greatest looking colors IMO when clean, but requires the most maintenence. I am a detail freak and a big Zaino fan. I know I can get the swirls out, but just pissed that I wasn't the one that put them their. Ah well I think I am just going to fix it myself, as I am worried they'll do more damage!

Sorry to hear you went through the same experiance!
