Default My first Jeep, ever

Here's my first Jeep. Up till now I've driven a '79 Super-Beetle and an '89 Volvo station wagon. Finally I have a vehicle that's capable of doing more that going to the grocery store and back.

Also, I can't decide if I like the step rails or not. Let me know what you think.

Default Welcome!

Welcome to the Steel Blue 2-door club! Leave the steps off, put some real rock rails on.

First: Stop calling it a car.

Second, Congorats on your new jeep.

Third: It is not a car. :toung:

Fourth: Rails are up to you and your needs.

Personally, i dont like them, i prefer the rocker guards or rock rails myself.

That being said, i have a Sahara with the sidesteps. They are there for the better half and for my daughters to climb in and out. If they didnt need 'em, i would ditch them as i have no problems getting in & out without touching them.

The plus side to them, is they keep a lot of crud off the side of the thing. I use my Jeep to drive back & forth to work whenever i am not on the bike (inclement weather), and i have to arrive relatively clean (for some reason the boss thinks i should)

Sorry, my mistake. I know it's not a car. How's "vehicle?"

Default side steps

side steps keep your rockers from getting killed off road; but most are of the self sacrificing variety...

get some A to Z ones... they look sweet

I assume they have JK ones; we just put them on my friends TJ a week ago... there slick

The factory side steps are ok for keeping salt and spray off the doors, but if you are going to off-road your Jeep, they will have to be removed. If you hit a stump, rock, etc, without any type of side protection, your body could possibly be damaged. A good quality set of rock rails or sliders would save you from denting the body. There are several brands available, such as Shrockworks, PureJeep, Warn, Olympic, A to Z fab, and many others. Mine below are the Warn Rails
