Default New to JK's but not new to Jeeps.

Hi,
My name is Joel and I live in Seattle WA. I was born and raised in Maine, but the Coast Guard has had me here in Seattle for the past 6 years. Now My wife and I are heading to our next station in Greenville Mississippi. I used to have a 99' Cherokee and an 80' CJ7. We found out just a month ago that we are going to be having a baby in November So we decided we needed a Jeep that was less of a death trap than our beloved CJ. We decided on a 2009 2 door Rubicon. We like to go camping and wheeling any chance we get. We also like to go skiing and cycling whenever possible. If you are in the Seattle area, I am going on a trail ride to Reaiter Pit on the 19th, and if you are in Mississippi, let me know so we can meet up and go wheelin!

Our CJ... it will be missed.

Our newest addition.

Congrats on the new Jeep and the baby news.

Car seats can be a little tricky with a 2 door, especially the infant carriers.

I found to get the carrier in and out I had had to locate it behind the passenger seat and then I had to tilt the passenger seat forward and tilt the drivers seat backwards then reach in from the drivers door and to get it in and out. There was not enough room to get the carrier between the piller and the front seat.

Once my youngest moved to a fullsize rear facing seat he had to go in and out from the back and I needed to reach over the back of the seat to buckle him in. Now that they are both forward facing it is pretty easy, I let them crawl over the center console between the front seats to get into the back and I get in and reach between the seats to buckle buckle them in, I find this easier than trying to squeeze myself between the seat and the pillar. It isn't easy but it is doable, I hear the 4 door versions are a lot easier but who wants that many doors.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes. I don't think the baby seat will be a big issue, the baby will mostly be riding around in my wifes car, the jeep is more of a family road trip or camping trip rig.

Too many doors, not enough like a real Jeep.
