Default Barney riley trail

Contemplating running Barney Riley next weekend to the hot springs. I've read that crossing the creek is illegal in a 4wd. Does anyone know if the creek is walkable this time of year? With kids I migh add?

I havent been to the hot springs in a long time. Ive heard its not allowed now either. I was near that section of the east carson almost 3 weeks ago and it was pretty high. A friend of mine ended up going for an unexpected swim. Its lower now but I dont know if its ok for the little ones. Some other friends floated to it last week and said it was almost too low to float.
Ill be down there from the airport end next week and I could give you better info.

You could go to Grover hot springs in Markleville if the carson springs dont work out. Although its not a place for children at night nor is it glamorous.

we arent looking for glamorous. She just likes the hot water. Both of those places look fine for that

Drove past the East Carson River today. The water looks pretty low. I'd say go for it. It is a little windy though...

Awesome. I think next week is the plan now but good feedback. Looking on the water flow websites it looks pretty low as well

Its not that cold either. I ended up fishing there yesterday. Even in 2 feet of water its still strong and slick though. I fell in and ended up drifting a good 40 feet. Keep an eye on the little ones and have fun!

We've changed up but still going. July 5th night at Grover and July 6th at the hot springs. We're new to family camping and want to try one night in established campground before going off the grid. Water flow looks like no problem. Is that section of the Carson near the springs catch and release?
