Default I'm trying to get the hall pass from the wife...

If I can, where should I stay the night before? Campground, motels near by?

I am not familar with any campgrounds except on the Bear River off of Milk Ranch Road.

But there are lots of Hotels in Auburn.
Best Western and Holiday Inn are where my Mom stays when she comes to visit.
Both are clean, reasonable and 15 minutes from Colfax.

I hope your wife gives you the hall pass ... I think this is going to be a fun trip

Default So looks like I got the pass!

My younger kids want to come too. 10 & 7, they love 4 wheelin'! Is this a kid-friendly ride? They've been up the black diamonds at Hollister Hills, so as long as the group is ok...

Spinning Bull, you should go to a book store, like Borders or any large book store and pick up Guide to Northern California Backroads & 4-wheel drive trails. By Charles Wells.

This sounds like fun. I'm going to go for it as well.

I'm coming from San Jose and will spend the night before somewhere in the Auburn area.

I'm bringing kids as well (11 and 7).
