I'm in as well. Anytime in Feb is good. Just need a little notice.....couple of days, day. If no one has gone on Iron Mountain Road before (Aka Immigrant Gap Trail), it is a county road that takes off of Hwy 50 and Sly Park Rd. It is unplowed just above Jenkinson Lake. This road goes all the way to Hwy 88 below Kirkwood Ski Resort. It normally pretty deep towards the top. They keep the road open to snow mobiles, 4 wheelers, etc. There is a tendency to be some jackasses up there so whatever. Just a idea.

Sounds good to me -- yeah I would defer to Larry or Liz or someone who knows the area a little better for choice of trail... right now Feb is looking pretty open for me except for the first week. I actually have a three-day weekend over Presidents day (2/15) -- one of the few random perks of working for the government I guess -- so maybe that weekend? Might be fun to grab a cabin for folks who can stay a couple days and don't want to make the 4-hour drive back to the Bay Area after the run... just a thought...

Default Don't try Kirkwood via Iron Mountain

The road between Kirkwood and Iron Mountain is closed (since Jan 1), so to get to Kirkwood means to go back to Hwy 50 and over to Hwy 88, or back to Jackson then Hwy 88. Just so you know ...

I've pulled out many people thinking they could take the short cut through Iron Mountain road. Sure the GPS shows it connecting, if they didn't mind waiting (until the snow was all gone). The guys in that brand new Audi found out that one night was enough for them.

Anyone interested in going to Iron Mountain this weekend?
