Default Swamp Lake - camping

Throwing this out there for the Norcal experts. Planning to head up to Swamp Lake on a Friday, then wheel to Grouse or Swamp Lake and camp Friday night. Is there any good spot to camp out once you finish the Trail on Saturday night. Something near water would be good. Or should we just camp 2 nights at Swamp and wheel out the rest on Sunday then drive home.

Also if anyone has run the trail lately, how was it. Our smallest rig is a stock Rubi 2dr.

Thanks in advance.

I will make sure to upload some. This looks to be a very fun run, with some good challenges.

Yes, it is going to be a challenge. I saw a video that had a stock rubicon on the swamp lake trail.

Have you done it? I would really like to get some perspective. In Socal we have all done John Bull, Odessa, and Doran (minus Gatekeeper). I am thinking that Swamp Lake is like John Bull, only about 4 times longer.

We have 3 lifted and winched out 4 door rubis, 1 lifted TJ rubi, and 1 jk 2 door stock rubi going. Maybe a lifted xj also.

no I haven't done it yet..I do Bald Mtn and I have been up to a few more places around Shaver lake (unknown places) I was told to expect damage going to swamp lake in my stock Rubi...I would really like to know how the stocker does up there..then I will go...my next trek is Coyote lake and the dusy trail...you know how every says that there will be damage...it only means that they got damage usually from bad judgement calls....keep in touch when you get back....HAVE FUN..

Cool trail! I have not been on Swamp in a couple of years. If money permits, you may want to consider outfitting the Rubi with a front diff guard, oil pan skid, and some rocker guards with slider bars to keep the rocks away from paint.

You can actually run the whole trail in a day. We went into Swamp, then came back out the same way we went in. The only reason we did this is because some guys had tow rigs left where we entered. I have heard the difficulty is similar both ways.

Post when your dates are finalized. Maybe I will see you up there!
