Default When to go to the rubicon ?

I'm trying to go to the rubicon in early spring . Trying to be there with no snow on the ground and minimal zika carrier bugs out. I don't mind if it's wet just done want snow. When would be a good time to go??

Nearly impossible to say for sure. Around April or May. i think this year the trail was still covered in snow past soup bowl at the end of April. All depends on snow fall. We did a full run in early March i think two years ago. Can watch the trails conditions thread on pirate.

Generally after June. There are sites that track the conditions up there. I was up there Fathers day weekend and there were still patches of snow in spots but the trail itself was clear. Look at the events calendar since you don't want to pop up there during a Jamboree or the Marlin crawl.

Usually After mid June is a safe bet. We usually run it Father's Day weekend and can always get across.

I can't agree. My best trips have been midweek in September. You have the whole trail to yourself. The jamboree's are just way too busy.

Yes if you are looking to run the trail and enjoy it at you leisure then check the calendar and avoid any gatherings. The trail is typically busy during non events at the different lakes and the springs. If you want to wait in bottle neck traffic then pay $600 and do a jamboree.

That's great but if you break something serious it's comforting to know that any tool or part needed can be produced with the mechanics on hand to wrench/wire/weld up the problem overnight.

I've run the rubicon more than 50 times. I've broken once on the trail, and was still able to get off. Just make sure you're prepared before you go.
