Camping Hiking and backpacking near Lacey WA
I am fairly new to the area and am having some problems finding a good place to go camping. And in my opinion siting at a campsite with a table, premade fire place and motorhomes 5 feet away is not camping. Where are some good places to go where you can have some fun, maybe even a little fourwheeling.
Also does anyone know of any hiking and backpacking trails around the area as well? Thanks

There is nota whole lot within, say 10 miles. Tahuya is a little over a hour away. It's a 4whhel park with a campground next to it. And then there is teh Wenatchee National Forest to teh east. CAmping and wheeling for days. Down south is Tillamook, Mt. Hood, and the Gifford Pinchot Forest. You'll need the Vehical pass to head down south. Welcome to the area. We've been here a little of 18 years now.

Stop by the DNR/State Park office off of Black Lake Blvd exit off Hwy101. If going North, get off, go left and it's on the right. They'll have maps, and/or can order them. There are hiking/backpacking trails for days up the peninsula. With the exception of Simpson Timber land, it's all State Park DNR areas. As mentioned Capitol Forest has a bit. It's more of a Horse/Bike Quad Forest though. You can get a map for that area as well at the office.

It's about the closet 4x4 park around us. Plenty of other places farther out. I am fabbing up a brushguard for my bumper this weekend. And if time permits, mod some rubi rock rails I have and get them nounted as well.

Sounds like you need to head up into the mountains. I second Tahuya, but its more of a day trip, too many ATVs for my liking. My favorite spots are on the north side of Mt Rainer off of Highway 410. Either Road 75 to the south, basic logging roads great Rainer views, or north of 410 up road 70 toward Naches Pass trail.
