Does anyone have recommendations on buying their jeep from Dave Smith? I've heard good things, good prices and timely service. I'm a USAA member, so I can get a good deal through them at a local dealership, but I was curious if there would be any advantage of going out of state to pick up the jeep. Looking to purchase this summer so I'm gather info now. I have a road trip planned in september to Montana that I'd like to take the jeep on, so we could swing by and pick it up then... Or get it earlier locally.

Try Truecar.com. I found a dealer in state that beat Dave Smith price by about $900.00.

A friend bought his GC from them. He was satisified with the deal.

I've heard some not-so-good stories from there, but they were second or third hand so don't know if they're true or not.

I bought my 07 Rubicon from Barton Jeep in Spokane and it was an awesome experience!
They have one younger salesperson that was there when I bought my Rubi and he's still there.
He will give you a good deal on what you want, not try to sell you what's on the lot, unless that's what you want!
He knows the technical side of Jeeps. Whenever I go to Barton for service, I chat with him and we sometimes get into technical discussion and I know he's not BSing; he does know his stuff.

His name is John, but is known as "Johnnie". Give him a holler and see what he can do for you, although he's not there this weekend as we have the Auto Show at the Spokane County Fairgrounds. if you contact him, be sure to tell him I referred you. I think if you purchase through him with a referral, I think we both get something, but not sure.

Thanks,

I've heard good things about Dave Smith in general but with USAA or Tread Lightly I don't think you will need to leave your home town for a deal.

Neighbor picked his JKU Sport (hard top/auto) from the same dealer in Tacoma that I got my 2 door from. He called Dave Smith & the best they could do was $2k more than the local dealer. He picked his up for $22,00 and I got the 2 door sport 6 speed for $17,500.

Default SATISFIED...BiG TiME!!!

...EVERYONE has their own opinions and experiences about car dealers and salespeople...and I'll tell ya firsthand...I live in NW Indiana, just outside Chicago and was shoppin' for a NEW Rubi...for a 10' at the time and these vultures out here were stickin' their attitudes and inflated, non-budging prices in my ass, SiDEWAYS!!! I wasn't havin' any of it...the local guy was so arrogant, I told him to go bounce on a dick bcuz that was the only play he'd get from anyone due to his attitude. I found these Dave Smith people by total accident...on eBay of all places and a Rubi that I really didn't intend to buy, but, after a period of a week or so and several back-and-forth phone conversations...with NO PRESSURE...and them coming down THOUSANDS in price, I flew my ass out to Spokane, picked up my ride and even after takin' them to the cleaners, they still shook my hand and smiled when I drove off of their lot. Now, they drove out to the airport and picked my DUMBASS up, drove me back to the dealership (some nice retired guy came to get me and was polite as hell)...drove me through some cool-ass resort town down the block with a great lake, surrounded by mountains...in the interim, some porter or whatever backed my Jeep into a pole and smashed the rear bumper in...I got more money off...they took me in the shop to show me nothing else was damaged (low speed)...ripped a bumper off of aother JK and threw it on for me...while they were doing that, they bought me dinner at some awesome little restaraunt across the street...then, picked up my ride....got some tickets to go up the mountain down the block...checked that out...paperwork all done via FedEx....on their dime, beforehand and I drove my Jeep back here to Indiana...to all of these assholes who, two of which told me I'd NEVER getta better deal...pulled out my paperwork...blacked out all private info on and xeroxed several copies to both the loudmouthed salespeople and their managers telling them that there are better deals out there if you go find them. I've had this damn thing for 1 1/2 years and have absolutely no complaints. There were a couple of very minor issues that they took care of...the local dealerships didn't wish to take care of...Dave Smith called them and then Corporate Headquarters for me and made sure things were right!!! ...and taken care of. NO ONE DROPPED THE BALL...these people were A#1 and I will again fly my ass back out there to buy my wife her next car...without even thinking about it!!! DAVE SMITH in Kellogg, ID was, WiTHOUT a DOUBT, the BEST DEALERSHiP I've dealt with in 20 + YEARS...BAR NONE!!!
