There are some very nice scenic drives out of Joseph. The Imnaha River road from Imnaha south to Indian Crossing Campground would be a good choice, as well as the 39 Road up to McGraw Overlook, or north from Imnaha to Dug Bar on the Snake River (HOT!), or north from Joseph into the Zumwalt prairie area; would all be fun trips just depending on how far you wanted to drive. There have been many road washouts in recent weeks and some routes may be closed, so be sure to check with the Wallowa Mountains Visitor Center in Enterprise for current conditions. July is hot in lower elevations so to avoid that head for water (rivers) or higher elevation forest roads.
