Default Opinions needed!

Alright guys and gals, i've recently come into talks about switching my hardtop with a soft top. we all know the Pacific Northwest, and our 350 days of rain. you think it'd be worth trading? what are the pros and cons of having a soft top vs a hard top?

for me, i have no where to store my hard top. i live in an apartment downtown seattle, and driving 30 minutes to store it at my parents house is too much. specially if it's going to rain.

the soft top is obviously easy to put up and bring down, but insulation is not as good. gets colder faster, and i've heard of leaks in the soft top (but its nothing i'm not used to, from my '95 YJ soft top). i just can't decide if i should go with it or not. can't do the hard top roof rack. i'm so torn....

help! i need your opinions!

What if you kept your hard top and bought a soft top then you could have both store the hard top at your parents if they will let you for the summer months

I know soft tops arnt cheap I want one as well but I love my hard top to much to get rid of it

I store my hard top in a friends garage for the summer. I found my soft top on craigslist like new for $400.00. I'm glad to have both options.

I run a soft top only. No leaks and it keeps the heat in with no problem. But I'm looking for hard top if you want to sell.

I have both tops and there are pros and cons for both. I am running the soft top right now and haven't had any leaks, it's solid. Once it gets colder I'll prolly put the hard top back on but the soft is pretty sweet. I will run it with just the back windows off sometimes and it is kinda like a bikini top that way.

Post Run the soft top for a year first...

Would your soft top be safe where you park? Personally if it was me, run the soft top for a year before you decide.. Then you'll know by experience what it's like running it year round.
Otherwise, you might regret selling the hard top. And they our expensive to buy.
Good luck.

I have the Soft Top only an like it. Mine did not come with hard top. If you have a place to store it , keep the hard top.

Could not agree more. Running with either for a least a year to gain the feel of it before deciding to change. We have the hard top on the missus rig. It came dual top. The soft top will not go on until she's drove it at least a year. She can then decide which she wants regularly. Or, do seasonal shifts.

I love my soft top. I'm in Virginia so we don't get really hot or a lot of rain so its perfect. On days it looks like rain I just leave the windows in the back seat and I can put it up by myself in about 5-10 min (depending on how cooperative the zippers are).

My windows do get a little scratched, but when I bought it used in March they were already pretty messed up so it doesn't matter to me that much. But I think Besttop mkes that thing to hold the windows in the back and that would do the same thing.

But honestly I would never get rid of my soft top.
