Digging up an old thread. Sorry I haven't been on in a while.

I have some new shots to show you guys. I finally got a t-adapter for my Meade ETX-60 scope and Olympus camera. Here are a few shots I took recently. The sun spot picture was taken using a white light filter that attaches to the front of the scope.

Lightning picture taken from the 11th floor of our condo building in Perdido Key, FL at the beginning of August 2011. I used f-7.1, no zoom, 40-sec exposure time...camera on tripod

Sunspot pic taken using scope and filter. It's a little out of focus I know, but it was my first shot using the filter. I'll get better at focusing through the filter as I practice

My Christmas wish-list inculdes a truss-mount Dobsonian scope and a few new lenses for the Olympus e-420 DSLR.

Palermus, I REALLY want to know what filter and camera settings you used for that lunar shot. That's a KICK ASS pic and I LOVE the detail. Did you do it with HDR?

Not mine, I'm asking too! Might be a digital black and white clip. Gives some color compression and contract when I do an HDR.

When you find out, please let me know. I would love to be able to duplicate the settings for that pic.

that said, the wife and I are just about settled in and we may try to take the kids for an outing soon. She isn't as into the photography thing as I am, but I bet she will be once she sees what these cameras REALLY can do.

I have a e-520 that I have been meaning to strap onto my Tele Vue - 102. Its a 102mm, f/8.6. Saposed to be the bomb for photography. All I need is a gear upgrade for my Mead German equatorial for tracking. I use the TV102 mostly on a ALT AS for star hopping. My dad has a 8" DOB. The trick with that scope is collimation. Let it get to temperature before you soot anything.

What lens's do you have for your 420? I love my 9-18 f4 and 25mm f2.8.
