Default Digital Video Camera ?

This is question....

The wife and I are going to Easter Jeep in Moab, Ut. this year for the first and probably only time.

I have what I belive is a half way decent still digital camera, A Fujifilm S3100. It's nothing high tech at all, but will take a nice photo.

But would also like to take some video on this trip. I wanted to use it to chronicle our trip out and back and also take some video of the trails we do.

What would be a decent video camera to look at ? Some things I would like, would be. A opyical zoom lens and also (forget what it's called ) the thing that makes the camera look like it's not moving or vibrating.

Sony Handycam is a great Hard drive based video camera... Model: DCR-SR45 its not too bad I found it for about 350 and that was a couple months ago so im sure you can find it for even less and it has image stabilization and optical zoom...

You are thinking motion stabilization. Without knowing what your budget is, weather you are okay with SD or want HD, and how much optical zoom your looking for, I'll recommend very capable consumer cameras:

Sony Handycam HDR-SRx line;
Canon Vixia line;
JVC Everio line;

I would do a Google search to see what you come up.

Good luck. Many to choose from.
