Nikon D90
So I have a chance to get a Nikon D90, brand new in the box for about $740!
Good Deal?
I don't have any experience with this type of camera but want to get into it!

No experience with the D90, but I had a D40 which I was happy with. I upgraded to the D80 a few months ago and I luv that camera! I can't imagine you won't be happy with the 90. I have not compared prices, but it seems like a fair price. Go for it and post lots of pics using the new toy!

As long as it is a reputable dealer you are buying from, I'd say that is a good deal.
I've only heard great things about the performance of the D90 so far, and the HD video feature looks like it would be a lot of fun to use as well. It'll probably be my next camera purchase.

You can't go wrong with Nikon. I have a d70s, 4 lenses right now and the camera is amazing. That said, I'll be upgrading to the d90 after christmas. That sounds like a good deal for the price, but make sure it's from a reputable dealer. If it's one of those companies located in brooklyn, ny then stay clear of them.

I could be wrong but I think the D80 has been discontinued and the D90 took it's place. I am not familiar with it as I own a D80. With that said I would get it if you like it even if it may be more than you wish to spend. You will grow into it.
I am not brand loyal 100% but I stick with Nikon because I am familiar with the menus and don't want to spend a whole lot of time learning a new menu.

At that price it maybe a grey market import, which means as is no warranty. With camera gear if the deal appears too good to be true, it probably is. I suggest buying camera gear from a well know and established vendor.

Yep, if you're going to buy something pricey, it's always best to get a warranty. Adorama.com is good for buying camera stuff. Seems like their prices are comparable, if not lower, although we just got our camera from amazon.
