So my big question is to what do you attribute the failure?

Tire size?
Use(Abuse)?
General wear and tear?
etc...

Could be a good indicator for those of us running similar setups as to when to start saving for that D60!!!

well, use/abuse is always a factor and we are hard on our jeep. however, i can honestly say that we only started to see breakage when we upgraded to our toyo 37x13.50's on walker evans beadlocks. these are really big/heavy tires - way more so than a set of BFG's and they have definitely been taking a toll on things. certainly, of the 3 tie rods that we've bent, 2 were bent forward and due to the torque of the tires on steep climbs. we've also gone through 2 steering boxes, 1 drag link, 1 locker and now this. when we were still running 35's, we never had any problems.

WOW thats crazy, I've seen broken axles, bearings and lockers but to see the tubes damaged like that is insane, now that is some serious trail carnage

You need teraflex to hook you up with one of those new Rubi elock plug and play 60's

seeing this im really worried about my build and how the D30 with chomolly axle shafts will hold up. think ill take it easy...lol if it does happen to me, it will give everyone something to talk about when they get home from the meet

1 thing i would change in my build would to have added the axles to the phase I build from the start. too late now
naw, no real tell tale signs. the boulders on this man made hill are like large loose bowling balls and they move around a lot. i typically stay off of this thing and should have this time around. catch one loose boulder wrong and it'll break something for sure.

for you, so long as you stick with 35's and are aware of your 30's limitations, you should be just fine with it. we've wheeled our TJ with 35's and on a 30 for a long time and never had any issues.

Good choice on the front

I'm getting D60s for the same reasons! I don't want to blow up my factory axles

I think you can run an adapter for your wheels on the front..
